Women are adapting to the digital world in a way that ought to inspire strategies and solutions in the way your brand markets to them.
A survey by YouGov shows that 3 in 5 Indian women said that they cannot function without the internet beyond an hour. The survey states that usage is high even among the urban female users and their dependence on the digital medium is as much as their male counterparts.
Online shopping and browsing through social media make up the lion’s share of the time women spend on the internet. And this turning tide means serious business for brands across the spectrum.
Based on our research at HerHQ, here are some key points to add to your checklist, when creating marketing content to engage women on social media:
Women “know”tice everything: On planet Venus, women actively discuss products and services they buy, since they are the “chief purchasing officers” of their households. They pride themselves in sharing helpful information with family, friends and colleagues. They are aware of the tastes and preferences of those around them and feel it their duty to pass on relevant information.
Women reach out to each other not only for sharing and keeping secrets, but they are also salon-mates and shoe shopping partners. When you market to women, dish out some insights, tips, credibility-building “how-to's that will drive them enough to share.
Actions are nudged by emotions: Since women are naturally sensitive, they readily respond to emotions. Buying actions too, in large part, can be driven by inducing the right emotion that will prompt her to browse through your products.
Next time you create content, pose this question: What emotions am I hoping to invoke in the woman buyer? Women demonstrate higher levels of shopping satisfaction, recommendation, return intentions than men. And when emotions can encourage buying, brands must inspire!
Invoke the power of great visuals: Females are better visual learners. Visuals cause faster, stronger reactions and increase information retention too. Impactful visuals on social media can influence women to engage with your content, and such emotional reactions leads them to add items to their cart!
When you’re designing creatives, play with all your tools – images, typography, GIFs, boomerangs, infographics. In a sea of text, our eyes often (and thankfully) land on visuals that stand out.
As more and more women turn to social media to stay current and look up trends, brands need to keep on top of their social media marketing strategies to cater to the world’s most influential buyers!
